Somerset furniture craft, Bluegrass and traditional folk music at the Pennymoor Singaround

On New Year’s Eve, I decided to visit my old friends at the Pennymoor Singaround and play some traditional English and Irish folk music which was great but I also discovered a local Bluegrass Music session and an intriguing local Somerset craftsman who specialises in making traditional Sugan Celtic furniture.

It’s wonderful the different people you find at traditional folk music sessions who come from different walks of life and interests.

Read all about it at traditional Celtic furniture, folk music and a happy new year.

Bye for now and a Happy New Year :-)

Building local communities is fun but also very challenging work

Finding lots of friends and enjoying ourselves doing lots of exciting things with them sounds great.

But the reality is that there are huge barriers to rural social networking and it’s actually a lot of hard work. Without doubt, those who are making the effort to achieve good things for their local community deserve all the support we can give them.

In the article entitled ‘Fun rural communities can blossom through active social and community network building‘ there is a light hearted but concerned account of the continuing need for our societies to work for better rural social communities and a call for the support and encouragement for those who who take on this tough challenge.

The site is also looking for examples of successful rural community workers to give publicity to their achievements.
